THE LONG VERSION
More than just
your photographer.
Because you’re not just booking someone to take photographs. You’re inviting me into one of the biggest days of your life.
MY STORY
I studied photography at college, although at the time I had no idea it would eventually become my career. After college, I joined the Royal Navy before setting off to travel the world.
Ironically, it was on the other side of the world that I met my future wife… only to discover we actually lived less than 40 minutes apart back home in Yorkshire. It’s still one of those stories people don’t quite believe.
Back in the UK, I built a career in design while photography took a back seat. It was my wife who encouraged me to pick up a camera again, and before long I was spending every spare evening and weekend photographing landscapes, wildlife and everyday life.
A photographer friend saw some of my images and asked if I’d ever thought about photographing weddings. To be honest, it had never crossed my mind. She invited me along to a few weddings, took me under her wing and opened my eyes to a completely different side of photography.
It didn’t take long before I realised I’d found something special.
As my confidence grew, I started photographing weddings under my own name. What began as evenings and weekends alongside my full-time design career gradually grew into something much bigger. With my wife supporting me every step of the way, I eventually took the leap into wedding photography full-time.
It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Then, in 2025, we packed up our lives once again and moved to Australia.
Leaving behind family, friends and a successful business wasn’t easy, but it gave us the opportunity to build a new life in a country we’d fallen in love with. Today I’m proud to call the Mid North Coast home, doing what I love in a place that’s quickly become just that… home.
WHY WEDDINGS?
There was one thing I didn’t expect when I started photographing weddings.
When I first started photographing weddings, I thought the biggest compliment was someone telling me they loved their photographs.
Then people started hugging me at the end of the night and telling me how happy they were they’d chosen me, and how much they’d loved having me there.
Honestly, I just thought they were being nice after a few beers!
Then the messages started arriving. A few weeks later, the reviews came in saying it felt like I was part of the family, that I helped everyone relax, or that they couldn’t imagine the day without me.
That’s when it clicked.
The photographs were only half the story.
Of course I want you to absolutely love your gallery. I’ll do everything I can to create photographs that you’ll still be showing people in twenty years time.
But somewhere along the way, I realised my job had become much bigger than taking a photo.
If I can help calm the nerves before the ceremony, make you laugh when you’re feeling awkward, keep things running smoothly without you even noticing…
…then I’ve done my job.
That’s why I love photographing weddings.
OUTSIDE WEDDINGS
Moving to Australia has given us the chance to build a new life, and we’re trying to make the most of it. Whether it’s getting out into nature, learning to surf (very badly!), exploring somewhere new or simply spending time together, those are the moments that help me switch off.
I think having something outside work is important. It reminds me to slow down, appreciate the little moments and not take life too seriously. Funnily enough, they’re usually the moments I enjoy photographing the most as well.
Apart from my questionable surfing ability, you’ll usually find me with a proper brew (Yorkshire Tea, obviously… not coffee!) watching the footy. Hull KR are still in my blood, and if anyone asks who my NRL team is… I’m still working on that one.
At the end of the day, I’m just a normal bloke who loves a laugh, doesn’t take himself too seriously and genuinely enjoys being around good people. If that sounds like your kind of photographer, we’ll probably get on just fine.
NO AWARDS. NO BULL. JUST ME.
Awards are great, but I’m not interested in chasing them or filling my website with magazine logos; It’s just never been my thing.
I’d rather spend that time looking after my couples, getting galleries delivered sooner, making sure every couple gets absolutely everything I’ve got and creating an experience they’ll tell their friends about.
My award?
The next message from a couple saying they’d choose me all over again.
On the day of the wedding, David became the best friend you didn't know you needed.
Calm, friendly, and so easy to work with. He made us feel comfortable in front of the camera (which is no easy task!)
A week after the wedding, and people are still talking about how great he was!
Your kind of photographer?
